The Role: The Senior Software Engineer is a Developer whose primary tasks will be to build and develop components for the Alpha Factory. A successful candidate should be familiar with modern design patterns and can apply suitable programming paradigms to create and maintain a robust and flexible system. In addition, this role will work closely with the operations team, adopting CI/CD techniques to ensure that the software products are being delivered in a timely yet reliable manner.
Its Impact: The ability to deliver robust software that drives Alpha production will enable WorldQuant to remain nimble and quickly apply new strategies into different regions and asset classes. Adopting state-of-the-art development and delivery process, including DevOps, will be critical in achieving these goals.
What You’ll Do:
- Develop robust backend application services and APIs.
- Propose system design and develop new systems as well as enhance existing systems
- Be an active member of an agile engineering team who is continuously looking to improve team performance.
- Automate CI/CD processes.
- Monitor and analyze platform reliability and performance and develop improvements.
- Work with leading open-source technologies (such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, Grafana stack, Sentry, Redis, Kafka, Git, etc.).
What You’ll Bring:
- Passion toward software engineering and interest in running real-world applications at scale.
- Excellent problem solving abilities and judgment with strong attention to detail
- Demonstrated experience developing scalable and robust software.
- Excellent coding skills. Solid understanding of the broad Python ecosystem including Numpy, Pandas is a plus…
- Working knowledge in various database and messaging technologies such as SQL, Redis, Kafka etc
- Mature, thoughtful, with the ability to operate in a collaborative, team-oriented culture
- Experience with Linux environment and shell scripting.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline or equivalent job experience.
- Candidates need not have prior experience in financial services.
