Why WorldQuant: Structured Mentorship

At WorldQuant, Nguyen Dat Duong values structured mentorship. Our approach to guidance helps researchers sharpen their skills, seek to optimize data use, and grow into leaders themselves.

One of the most important things in WorldQuant is we encourage the innovation.

I did my PhD in math, and then I taught at State University of New York for a year. I was interested in the stock market.

The financial industry is very dynamic. You need to keep updating with the latest trend. And I’m the kind of person who wants to predict what’s going to happen. I was new to finance, so there were tons of things I needed to study.

The very good thing is we have a really good mentorship program here. You need a mentor to walk you through the data, choose different data segments to tackle the problem. It’s probably the most important thing, because the data and everything is huge.

Some of my great achievement in WorldQuant, it comes from the work with the team, and if you can choose the right person to be your partner, then you can go very fast.
