AI is both transforming how we work and reshaping who gets to participate. At WorldQuant, the clearest example is our International Quant Championship (IQC).<\/p>\n

In 2025, the IQC drew nearly 80,000 participants from 11,000 universities across 142 countries. Behind those numbers, we saw a striking shift: more participants chose to compete as individuals, using AI as their primary research partner rather than relying on traditional team structures.<\/p>\n

When one student can use AI agents to scan research, generate hypotheses, run simulations, and refine strategies, they start to operate like a compact efficient research lab. As these tools become more accessible, the real advantage moves away from \u201cwho has the best technology\u201d toward who can use these tools most effectively, which is largely a case of asking the right questions to shape the clearest ideas and make the sharpest decisions.<\/p>\n

We have historically regarded intelligence as something uniquely human and irreplaceable. Humans often operate where there is little data, relying on intuition. But, with IQC as a powerful example, we see how combining human strengths with AI can be a powerful path to achieving more.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s why the IQC matters. It has become a global arena where we can see, in real-time, how the next generation of quants are putting innovative ideas and tools to the test. And by tapping into young minds around the world, with diverse backgrounds and perspectives, we are tapping into the capabilities and skillsets that will define quantitative research.<\/p>\n
